Guiding exercises and thought-provoking ideas challenge the reader to investigate his/her own attitudes and beliefs. In addition, the book offers guidelines on how to engage one another in constructive dialogue across difference. This book offers a model for praxis-oriented communication, how to work with (not for or on) people with disabilities. Building up on the success of the first edition, this second edition features a chapter focusing specifically on the work environment. All proceeds benefit a scholarship for students with disabilities atSan JosState University (SJSU).

From the Back Cover
"The book you are about to read is one of a kind; I can think of no other like it. Applicable across a broad array of courses and disciplines, Some Same but Differentinvites exploration of ability and disability, both visible and nonvisible, from a critical cultural perspective. By "critical," I mean that the creators of this text have reflected on their own experiences with (dis)ability in both hopeful and challenging ways, and they invite us to do the same."

Eye-opening Book!
By Robert Lee Long Truong
I took a class here at San Jose State University and was instructed to read this book. The content within this book can truly open the eyes of many people when it comes to people with disabilities. The general theme of an "unlearning" process will in the end help people progress to a new-found perspective. The book is worth the read for anybody who has little to no experience with how to engage people with disabilities.

The authors do a great job of providing very useful information that can be applied easily. I highly encourage teachers and students to leverage the information in this expert book.
